5.  A kind disposition, serious and gentle demeanor, and a helpful attitude. 
6.  A valid driver's license and a dependable vehicle

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to pass a drug test, and not have a drug or alcohol problem. Must appear neat and clean, and be appropriate for an in person customer service position. Must be physically healthy, capable of doing chores, and able to lift 50 pounds.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, the Apprentice provides a supportive role to Professional Tattoo Artists and Body Piercing Practitioners. Support includes cleaning, customer service, inventory, purchasing supplies at local stores, running errands, running a cash register, selling jewelry, making phone calls to clients, answering the phones, keeping the front of the store and parking lot clean, taking out trash, greeting customers and getting them situated with their paperwork, and acting as a customer service representative on behalf of the Artists.

Specific Duties and Requirements:
The apprentice will clean the floors, the bathrooms, and toilets every day. They will make sure the bathrooms and wash areas are supplied with toilet paper and /or paper towels and hand soap. They will periodically clean the windows, mirrors, all surfaces inside, run the vacuum cleaner, water plants, get change for the cash register, run the cash register when necessary, clean the tattoo and piercing stations in between clients, handle the trash,
make copies of clients' identification and organize their paperwork for the artists, stock supplies, talk with customers about their procedures and relay information to and from the artists. They will sometimes give people directions to the shop over the phone, or answer questions about our hours. With guidance, they will answer questions about policy

 The shop assistant will be asked to do many small tasks that will be helpful, including cleaning and sterilizing jewelry, cleaning out and straightening up drawers and cabinets, organizing our various libraries and filing cabinets, and fixing and maintaining broken furniture. Sometimes the shop assistant will be asked to paint a wall, replace a light bulb, or put up or take down decorations. They may need to fill the water cooler or empty the water from the portable air conditioners.  There are many things that an apprentice will need to do to make the shop run smoothly.

The apprentice will learn to safely handle contaminated instruments, and will clean all instruments and sterilize them in accordance with New Jersey Health Department Code. Trainees will learn the inner workings of the studio, and eventually will be able to be helpful to the clients, and to the artist, and deal with concerns of appointment making, design information and aftercare concerns


A Terrific Apprentice will be able to:
1. Use a Computer to check email and search the internet for designs
2. Capture an image from the internet or from a digital scanner and print it out after editing with Adobe Photoshop,
3. Use a copy machine and be able to fill the paper, and change the ink cartridge
4. Fill the paper and change the ink cartridges in a printer
5. Replace the paper roll in the cash register
6. Run a cash register
7. Replace the paper roll in the credit card terminal
8. Run and maintain an autoclave ( medical instrument sterilizer)
9. Run and maintain an ultrasonic cleaner

10. Stay busy in a self directed way, always keeping in mind, and realizing, what is in the best interest of the company.
 
In return for all the hard work and support we will get from you, we will teach you how to Tattoo and Body Pierce. You will be provided with excellent tattoo machines and quality supplies, and will learn to make a decent living for yourself when you are ready and able. We do not charge for apprenticeships, however we do expect you to work for our company for at least 7 years before going off on your own, and you will be required to sign a non-compete agreement. We offer a modest stipend to help with your expenses during the learning period which may take anywhere from 4 months to 1 year before you will be able to make money.
